Community Sexual Health Nurse Co-ordinator

The post combines expert clinical practice and leadership, service development and line management within the rapidly developing area of Community Sexual Health Services. The post holder will be instrumental in supporting the service changes, ensuring that a consistent and clear vision of community sexual health services is communicated to all staff and that service user and staff participation in service development is maximized.

This post is a co management with an existing Community Sexual Health Nurse Coordinator

To work as an advanced practitioner and effectively deliver an expert nursing service within the specialist area of Community Sexual health.

To assist in the delivery of an advanced specialist nursing service for people with reproductive & sexual health needs.
To provide specialist nursing advice and support to clients and other healthcare professionals following diagnosis and through treatment.
Working a minimum of 3 clinical sessions per week providing contraceptive and sexual health care including evening clinics.
Taking part in Saturday clinic rota.
Managing a client caseload.
Ordering diagnostic tests.
Making and receiving referrals.
Providing nursing cover to clinics as required.
Prescribing medicines and treatments in accordance with NMC and Trust guidelines as an independent nurse prescriber.
To accept responsibility for own client caseload, ensuring all clients have an accurate plan of care, which reflects the assessment undertaken and incorporates the issues and recommendations made ensuring clear documentation in the client's records.
To ensure that results of tests are available as necessary and acted on in a timely manner and to keep accurate record of all investigations performed.
To deliver a seamless service through the development of enhanced Multidisciplinary team (MDT) processes and communication
To ensure that robust systems and procedures are in place for the efficient and prompt management of STI test results, including client and partner notification.
To be able to run nurse-led clinics as required.

The Person:
NMC Level 1Registered Nurse.
Post-registration qualification in Contraceptive Care and Sexual Health (e.g. ENB8103/R71 or equivalent)·Independent Nurse Prescriber
Demonstrable in-depth post-registration experience in sexual health - including recent work within Community Sexual Health (family planning).
Teaching and Assessing within this field of work·
Work with community groups·
Training in and use of Mentorship skills.·
Demonstrable presentation skills.
Experience of audit and research.
Awareness of local and government documents and guidelines.
Experience of working to Patient Group Directions
