The Redline Group are currently seeking an experienced RF Design Engineer to develop products from feasibility, through prototyping and manufacture. Working for the leader in DAB development and based from their Cambridge office your designs will be integrated into Automotive systems.
About you:
Proven experience and credibility as an RF product technical specialist.
Expansive experience of the product lifecycle from concept creation, through development and manufacturing and support.
Can – do, positive attitude. Ability to pro-actively work on tasks to completion.
Has a demonstrable track record of achievement of development in consumer / professional.
Effective communicator at all times with reporting project progress.
Able to respond effectively to challenging project situations, knowing when to impart extra effort (e.G. Work extra hours) from both personal and team perspectives.
The Role:
Engineering design of radio circuits, antennas and system integration.
Produce design schematics (using Protel), do hands on, bench and circuit development + test.
Contribute skills in radio frequency, thermal, mechanical design, pcb placement, component selections, EMC / RFI, DFM / DFT, BoM costs and management.
Frequencies include Band II, Band III, L Band, ISM bands and EMC test ranges.
Development of integrated and separate antenna systems
Collaborating with other design teams including RF, SW, RFIC, etc., To establish effective system architectures and interfaces.
Using best, systematic methods for requirements capture, solution modelling / simulation, development, verification and validation, handover packages, trials, support and training.
Assist to produce mechanical drawings and models (Solidworks)
Establish effective interfaces to other departments including ( but not limited to), software, marketing / sales, FAE’s, operations/ manufacturing / service / standards orgs / component suppliers.
Responsibility for shipped product and test / development definition.
Responsibilities at all stages of maturity from feasibility, through prototype to finished production assets.
Qualifications and Essential Experience
Degree qualified to a level of minimum 2:1 classification in Electronic Engineering or equivalent training and experience.
Design for consumer / automotive product, mass production.
Proven post graduate relevant circuit design, development and evaluation.
Development / test of car infotainment systems – radio head unit, antenna unit, power systems.
In car radio, navigation - GPS, cellular mobile / PMR radio, satellite systems etc.
Development against automotive product and process quality standards.
Development of products to meet automotive climatic, power source and physical environments.
Automotive product trials and proving, drive test etc.
Desirable Experience
Protel and Solidworks, RF CAD tools (EESOF, ADS).
Radio signal coverage evaluation – propagation
Automotive antenna design at VHF / L Band.
Factory support and issue resolution appropriate to automotive.
Customer application support appropriate to automotive.
Close inter-working with technology suppliers and alpha customers.
Familiarity with PDM system (Arena).
ATE and test hardware and software e.G. NI LabView
