Space Propulsion Systems Engineer

Seeking a Space Propulsion Systems Engineer who will provide technical expertise and past experience to the system engineering directorate for satellite propulsion system development at NASA.

What you will be doing:

~ Develop propulsion concepts for new science satellite bus design including propellant selection, storage, delivery, and thruster design.
~ Perform trade studies using key design metrics such as weight, cost, and mission requirements and develop the concepts to a final design.
~ Advance chosen concepts to a detailed design level
~ Develop project planning/budgeting for the lifecycle of the propulsion system.
~ Plan and coordinate propulsion subsystem design activities and report out on progress to the satellite development project office.
~ Develop test and verification planning for the propulsion system design.
~ Document propulsion system development details.
~ Provide briefings to management and other design groups as required.

Relocation assistance for an ideal candidate!

An ideal candidate will have:

~ BS (MS preferred) in aerospace/aeronautical/mechanical engineering.
~ 7-10 years of industry experience preferred.
~ Experience in design, planning, tracking, and reporting progress toward completion of propulsion systems development activities in a fast-paced team environment.
~ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
~ Prior experience with satellite bus propulsion system project management, design, or analysis preferred.
