5 Easy Steps

All you need to do is follow these five easy steps to make your Video CV:

1. Prepare some prompt cards
It is very easy just to set up your camera and click record, but you'll soon find that you fumble your words or miss out important facts about yourself. To make it easier, create a few prompt cards to ensure you can communicate all your skills in a professional and relaxed way. It will make a massive difference to your final Video CV.

2. Take it slow and remember to breath
One of the most common mistakes we see is that people speak far too quickly (as they are nervous) and forget to take a breath. So, tell yourself to relax, take some deep breaths and speak nice and clearly.

3. Introduce yourself
Another frequent issue is that people forget to introduce themselves and go directly into their skills. So, ensure to state who you are and what profession you are in or type of work you do.

4. Highlight your core skills
We then recommend that you highlight your core skills to enable a potential employer to quickly understand the value you can bring to their business. Remember to highlight your personal qualities as well as your professional skills.

5. State the type of job you are seeking
Finally, make sure you highlight the type of job or jobs you are seeking. It often helps if you explain previous roles you have undertaken as it enables potential employers to build a clearer profile of you.

That is pretty much it. Keep it simple, maintain a nice easy pace and remember to smile. Your core goal is to help potential employers understand a little about the person behind the CV and enable them to realise that you have strong personal (soft) skills in addition to your technical skills.
